Globalizing HRIS : The New Transnational Model

The next topic of study that I would reflect on is “Globalizing HRIS: The New Transnational Model”. According to Beamen (2000), Global HRIS is relating to an information system worldwide which could efficiently implement the information either through single, centralised and standardised system. There are three types of model that I get to know from my readings as well as from the class session. The models are basically, Multinational, Global and International.

However, in order to be more effective there was a new model being developed which is called as “Transnational Model”. This model consists of the combination of the other three previous models. Indeed, the model being developed according to the changes of the business environment itself, Beamen (2000). While, transnational organizations are basically the organization that operates beyond the national boundaries. Furthermore, when a business is being set up across the national boundaries the main objectives is to gain the efficiency. This shows that the business must be able to locally responsive and also globally integrated. Julie Deveron (2013), stated that there are several elements that need to get into consideration in a business structure which is a multidimensional, systematic differentiation between businesses, business functions and geographical areas of business operations.

One of the examples of transnational businesses is the well-known fast food chain restaurant, McDonalds. It gains its efficiency not only through expanding the restaurants across national boundaries but also the products and the commercial the business strategy of  McDonalds through the entire worldwide are the same but in accordance to its geographical business operations. Moreover the business are basically depends on the differing culture of its country of operations as such in Malaysia, the burgers beings sold are 100% “Halal” as compared to other countries such as China, the “Non-Halal” burgers are also being sold  according to its geographical business operations.

In conclusion, the business that has chosen the transnational model would gain advantages in terms of economic factor compared to the businesses that never choose to do businesses through transnational policy.
